CBF President Denies Talks with Guardiola: "We Have Not Initiated Any Search"
CBF President Ednaldo Rodrigues has firmly denied the existence of any discussions with former Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola about the vacant Brazil head coach position.
This denial comes in response to recent widespread speculation and media reports suggesting the presence of advanced negotiations between the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) and Guardiola.
Rodrigues' Explicit Refusal
Rodrigues' unequivocal statement is emphatic: "We have not started any search for a new coach. We are fully focused on our preparation for the upcoming friendlies against Morocco and Senegal."
The CBF president further emphasized the organization's current focus on supporting interim manager Ramon Menezes, appointed in August after Tite's resignation following Brazil's World Cup exit.
Rodrigues acknowledged the respect and admiration he holds for Guardiola but reaffirmed that there have been no discussions regarding his potential appointment as Brazil coach.
Guardiola's Reputation and Rumors
Pep Guardiola is widely recognized as one of the greatest football managers of his generation. His success with Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City has earned him global acclaim.
However, Guardiola has repeatedly stated his intention to take a break from coaching following his departure from Manchester City at the end of the 2022/23 season.
CBF's Search Process
The CBF has indicated that it will initiate a thorough search for a new coach after the international friendlies in late March.
The Confederação Brasileira de Futebol (CBF) will form a committee to evaluate candidates and make a decision that aligns with the team's long-term goals.
