Coffee prices in Russia could jump by 30%
Capuccino and latte may become more expensive due to rising grain and milk prices
Cappuccino and latte prices in Russia may increase by 30% due to rising grain and milk prices. This is reported by RBC with reference to the study of the market in the coffee shop segment conducted by the analytical platform Market Report.
The study notes that coffee beans have risen in price by 30-40% since the beginning of the year, milk - by 20-25%, sugar - by 30-50%, and cups and other consumables - by 20-40%. As a result, the cost of a cup of coffee in coffee shops increased by 15-20%.
Market Report experts believe that further price increases are inevitable due to the continuing rise in the cost of coffee beans and milk. They also note that the increase in prices for coffee drinks will be especially noticeable in small coffee shops.
The study also found that the average bill in coffee shops in Russia increased by 10-15% in the first half of the year. This was due to both the increase in the cost of coffee drinks and the expansion of the range of products offered.
Experts note that the coffee shop market in Russia is highly competitive. There are about 20,000 coffee shops in the country, of which about 10,000 are located in Moscow and St. Petersburg. The largest players in the market are Starbucks, Costa Coffee, and Shokoladnitsa.
