DSDS without Dieter Bohlen: RTL relies on Florian Silbereisen
Florian Silbereisen takes over the DSDS jury
After 19 years, Dieter Bohlen will no longer be part of the jury of "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" (DSDS). As RTL announced on Tuesday, Florian Silbereisen will take over as the new chief juror from 2023. The 40-year-old is one of the most successful entertainers in Germany and has already proven his expertise as a juror in shows such as "Deutschland sucht den Superstar Kids" and "Das Supertalent".
Dieter Bohlen leaves DSDS after 19 years
Dieter Bohlen had been on the DSDS jury since the show's inception in 2002. He was known for his harsh criticism of the candidates, but also for his commitment to discovering and promoting new talent. In recent years, however, Bohlen's popularity had declined and he had repeatedly been criticized for his often sexist and homophobic statements. RTL had already announced in March 2021 that Bohlen would be leaving DSDS after the 2022 season.
Florian Silbereisen: The new chief juror of DSDS
Florian Silbereisen is one of the most successful entertainers in Germany. He has hosted numerous TV shows, including "Die große Schlager-Hitparade" and "Die Feste der Volksmusik". Since 2020, he has also been the captain of the ARD show "Das Traumschiff". Silbereisen is known for his likeable manner and his commitment to traditional German music. It remains to be seen how he will do as the chief juror of DSDS, but he is sure to bring a fresh wind to the show.
DSDS 2023: New jury, new rules
In addition to Florian Silbereisen, the DSDS jury for 2023 will also include two other new members: rapper Katja Krasavice and singer-songwriter Ilse DeLange. Pietro Lombardi, who has been on the jury since 2019, will also remain part of the team. RTL has also announced some changes to the rules of the show. In the future, the candidates will no longer be able to sing songs from their own repertoire. Instead, they will have to choose from a list of songs that have been selected by the jury.
DSDS: New season starts in January 2023
The new season of DSDS will start on January 7, 2023. The show will be broadcast live on RTL every Saturday evening. The winner of the show will receive a recording contract with Universal Music.
