Monaco's poor form continues with another disappointing result

AS Monaco's poor form continued on Sunday as they suffered a shock 2-1 defeat to RC Strasbourg in Ligue 1. Aleksandr Golovin's early goal had given Monaco the lead, but goals from Habib Diallo and Kevin Gameiro turned the game on its head.

The result leaves Monaco languishing in 11th place in the table, just three points above the relegation zone. Strasbourg, meanwhile, moved up to 10th place with their second win of the season.

Monaco started the game brightly and took the lead in the 10th minute when Golovin curled a superb effort into the top corner from outside the box.

However, Strasbourg grew into the game and deservedly equalized in the 25th minute. Diallo headed home from close range after good work from Gameiro.

Monaco pushed for a winner in the second half, but Strasbourg defended resolutely and hit them on the break. Gameiro sealed the win for Strasbourg in the 85th minute with a clinical finish.

The defeat is a major setback for Monaco, who have now won just one of their last seven league games. They will be hoping to bounce back when they face Lyon in the Coupe de France on Wednesday.

Strasbourg, meanwhile, will be delighted with their victory. They have now won two of their last three games and will be hoping to continue their good form when they face Brest in their next league game.
