New Change for Maternity Capital in Saint Petersburg
New rules for obtaining maternity capital in Saint Petersburg, as of 2023
Enhancing Support for Families with Children
Maternity capital is a form of state support that was introduced in Russia in 2007 to encourage families to have more children. The new rules, which were announced by the Governor of Saint Petersburg, Alexander Beglov, are aimed at making it easier for families to obtain this benefit.
One of the most significant changes is that the maternity capital will now be available to families with one child, regardless of their age. Previously, only families with two or more children were eligible for this benefit. This change is expected to benefit approximately 94,000 families in Saint Petersburg.
Another important change is that the amount of maternity capital will be increased. The new amount will be 483,881 rubles for families with one child and 693,144 rubles for families with two or more children. This increase is expected to help families cover the costs associated with raising children, such as childcare, education, and healthcare.
Other changes to the maternity capital program in Saint Petersburg include:
- The deadline for applying for maternity capital has been extended to December 31, 2023.
- Families can now use maternity capital to purchase housing even if they have outstanding mortgage payments.
- Families can now use maternity capital to pay for educational expenses, including preschool and university tuition.
The new rules for maternity capital in Saint Petersburg are expected to have a positive impact on families with children. These changes will make it easier for families to obtain this benefit and use it to cover the costs associated with raising children.
