Australia's Pat Cummins welcomed Pakistan back to ODI cricket on Tuesday, as the two teams prepare to face off in a three-match series starting on Friday. Pakistan has not played an ODI since July 2022, but they will be looking to make a strong return against a formidable Australian side.

Pakistan to play 3 ODIs and a T20I

The ODI series will be followed by a one-off T20I on April 5. Pakistan will be hoping to build on their recent Test series win over Australia, while the hosts will be looking to bounce back from their defeat in India.

Australia and Pakistan: rivalry renewed

The two teams have a long and storied rivalry in ODI cricket, with Pakistan holding a slight edge in head-to-head meetings. The upcoming series is sure to be another closely contested affair, with both teams looking to gain an early advantage in the World Cup Super League.

Cummins expecting a tough series

Pakistan captain Babar Azam is also confident of his team's chances. "We're excited to be back playing ODI cricket," he said. "We know Australia is a strong team, but we believe we have the quality to beat them."

The ODI series will be played as follows:

• 1st ODI: March 29, Sydney Cricket Ground
• 2nd ODI: March 31, Adelaide Oval
• 3rd ODI: April 2, Perth Stadium

The one-off T20I will be played on April 5 at Manuka Oval in Canberra.
