Remembrance Day 2024: Events Planned for Kingston and Area
Honouring Our Veterans
Remembrance Day is a time to remember and honour the men and women who have served our country. This year, there will be a number of events taking place in Kingston and the surrounding area to mark the occasion.Ceremonies and Parades
The main Remembrance Day ceremony in Kingston will be held at the Cenotaph in Confederation Park on Sunday, November 10th at 11:00 AM. The ceremony will include a parade of veterans, serving members of the Canadian Armed Forces, and other groups. There will also be speeches, prayers, and the laying of wreaths.In addition to the main ceremony, there will be a number of other ceremonies and parades taking place in the Kingston area. These include:
- A ceremony at the Royal Military College of Canada on Friday, November 8th at 10:30 AM
- A ceremony at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 560 on Sunday, November 10th at 10:30 AM
- A parade in Napanee on Sunday, November 10th at 10:30 AM
Other Events
In addition to ceremonies and parades, there will be a number of other events taking place in Kingston and the area to mark Remembrance Day. These include:- A screening of the film "The Great War" at the Kingston Canadian Film Festival on Thursday, November 7th at 7:00 PM
- A lecture on the history of Remembrance Day at the Kingston Public Library on Saturday, November 9th at 2:00 PM
- A wreath-laying ceremony at the Kingston City Hall on Sunday, November 10th at 12:00 PM
