Where to watch the ceremonies
Two Remembrance Day ceremonies are planned in St. Catharines and Thorold on Friday, Nov. 11. Here's where to watch the ceremonies:
- St. Catharines: The ceremony will be held at the St. Catharines Cenotaph in Montebello Park, starting at 10:45 a.m.
- Thorold: The ceremony will be held at the Thorold Cenotaph in Thorold City Hall, starting at 10:45 a.m.
What to expect at the ceremonies
Both ceremonies will feature a reading of the Act of Remembrance, a two-minute moment of silence, and the laying of wreaths, said St. Catharines Royal Canadian Legion Branch 24 general manager Deb Martin-Downs.
At the St. Catharines ceremony, the bugler from the Royal Canadian Legion Band will play the Last Post and Reveille, and Thorold Legion Branch 63 is organizing its ceremony, said Thorold Legion vice-president Mike Farrell.
Road closures in St. Catharines
Motorists should be aware of the following road closures in downtown St. Catharines on Friday, Nov. 11.
- James Street, from Queen Street to Lake Street, will be closed from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
- Church Street, from James Street to Queen Street, will be closed from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
- Queen Street, from King Street to Church Street, will be closed from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
