Steel City Derby: Throughout the Decades
Steel City Roller Derby (SCRD) has been a force in the Quad City area for over a decade, bringing excitement and athleticism to the community.
Founded in 2010, SCRD has grown from a small group of dedicated skaters to a thriving league with over 100 members.
The league operates two home teams, the Steel City Bruisers and the Steel City Threat, who compete in the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA).
SCRD also boasts a junior league, the Steel City Juniors, which provides opportunities for young skaters to learn the sport.
The league's home rink is the historic Skatin' Place in Moline, where they host regular bouts and special events.
SCRD is committed to community involvement, partnering with local organizations and charities to support various causes.
The league also offers a variety of programs to promote roller derby, including Learn to Skate classes and outreach clinics.
Over the years, SCRD has become a beloved part of the Quad City community, providing entertainment, inspiration, and opportunities for skaters of all ages.
