Walsall 1 Crewe 1 - Report
Walsall and Crewe Alexandra shared the points as they played out an entertaining 1-1 draw in League Two.
A goal either side of half-time from Andy Cook and Courtney Baker-Richardson ensured the points were shared at the Bescot Stadium.
The Saddlers started brightly and could have taken the lead inside the opening five minutes. Isaac Hutchinson found himself one-on-one with Crewe goalkeeper Dave Richards but saw his effort well saved.
Crewe gradually grew into the game and should have taken the lead themselves on the half-hour mark. Charlie Kirk found himself in acres of space inside the Walsall area but could only fire wide of the target.
Walsall took the lead just before the break. A long ball from Liam Kinsella found Andy Cook, who showed great composure to slot the ball past Richards.
Crewe started the second half brightly and were level within five minutes. A cross from the right found Courtney Baker-Richardson, who headed home from close range.
Both sides had chances to win the game in the closing stages but neither could find a winner.
The result leaves Walsall in 13th place in League Two, while Crewe remain in 18th.
