Who will sing the SA anthem before Springboks v Scotland?

SA Rugby has released the performers for the opening and closing ceremonies of the upcoming match between the Springboks and Scotland at Mbombela Stadium.

The event will take place on Saturday, 29 July 2023.

South African singer-songwriter and actress Lira will perform the South African National Anthem before the match. Lira is one of the most successful and respected artists in South Africa, having won numerous awards, including 13 South African Music Awards (SAMAs). She is also a UN Goodwill Ambassador for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women.

Scottish singer-songwriter Amy Macdonald will perform the Scottish National Anthem, "Flower of Scotland", before the match. Macdonald is one of the most successful Scottish artists of all time, having sold over 12 million records worldwide. She is best known for her songs "This Is the Life", "Mr Rock & Roll", and "Poison Prince".

In addition to the national anthems, there will also be a number of other performances before and after the match. These include performances by the Mbombela Stadium Choir and the South African Army Band. The opening ceremony will begin at 16:45 and the match will start at 17:00.
