AS Monaco suffer another Ligue 1 defeat, this time to RC Strasbourg
Golovin's goal not enough as Strasbourg secure vital win
AS Monaco's poor start to the Ligue 1 season continued on Sunday as they were beaten 2-1 at home by RC Strasbourg.
Aleksandr Golovin gave Monaco the lead in the first half, but goals from Habib Diallo and Kevin Gameiro turned the game in Strasbourg's favor.
The result leaves Monaco in 16th place in the table, just two points above the relegation zone.
Monaco's poor form continues
Monaco have now lost four of their first five Ligue 1 games this season, and they have only scored four goals in those matches.
Manager Philippe Clement has come under increasing pressure in recent weeks, and this latest defeat will do little to ease the pressure on him.
Strasbourg's vital win
Strasbourg's win was their first of the season, and it moved them up to 12th place in the table.
Manager Julien Stephan will be delighted with his team's performance, and he will be hoping that they can build on this result in the coming weeks.
Golovin's goal not enough
Golovin's goal was a bright spot for Monaco, but it was not enough to prevent them from defeat.
The Russian midfielder has been one of Monaco's best players in recent seasons, and he will need to continue to perform well if Monaco are to turn their season around.
Monaco will now have to wait until after the international break for their next Ligue 1 game, which is away to Clermont Foot on October 1.
Strasbourg, meanwhile, will host Montpellier in their next game on October 2.
