Mapimpi: Boks wary of threat Van der Merwe poses
Springbok wing Sbu Nkosi has warned his team-mates to be wary of the threat posed by Damian van der Merwe when they take on Scotland in their opening match of the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
Van der Merwe, who plays his club rugby for Glasgow Warriors, is a powerful and dangerous runner who has scored 10 tries in 15 appearances for Scotland.
He is also a good defender and will be a tough opponent for the Springboks to handle. Nkosi said: "Damian van der Merwe is a very good player. He is a strong runner and a good defender. We will have to be wary of him when we play Scotland."
The Springboks will be without a number of key players for the match against Scotland, including captain Siya Kolisi, who is suspended. However, Nkosi is confident that the team can still get the win. He said: "We have a lot of depth in our squad and we are confident that we can beat Scotland."
The match between South Africa and Scotland will be played at the Stade de France in Paris on September 10.
