Lens regained the lead just before half-time when Thomasson converted a penalty after Samuel Moutoussamy was fouled in the area.
Nantes again showed their resilience after the break and equalized for a second time in the 65th minute through Guessand, who headed home a cross from Nicolas Pallois.
Both teams had chances to win the match in the closing stages, but neither side could find a winning goal.
The draw was a fair result overall, with both teams showing their attacking quality.
