Sheffield United's Chris Wilder learns from Sheffield Wednesday mistake in 2017 derby
Blades boss vows to 'prepare properly' ahead of Steel City showdown
Wilder: 'We won't make the same mistakes as Wednesday'
Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has vowed to learn from Sheffield Wednesday's mistakes ahead of the Steel City derby on Saturday.
The Owls were heavily criticized for their lack of preparation for the corresponding fixture in 2017, which they lost 4-2 at Bramall Lane.
Then-Wednesday manager Carlos Carvalhal was accused of underestimating the Blades, and Wilder is determined to avoid making the same error.
"We won't make the same mistakes as Wednesday," said Wilder.
"We'll prepare properly and we'll be ready for the challenge.
"We know that it's going to be a tough game, but we're confident that we can get a result.
The Blades have made a strong start to the season, winning three of their first four games in the Championship.
Wednesday, meanwhile, have endured a difficult start, losing three of their four matches.
But Wilder is refusing to underestimate his opponents.
"Wednesday are a good side with some excellent players," he said.
"They'll be hurting after their start to the season, but we know that they'll be coming to Bramall Lane looking to put things right.
"We need to be prepared for that and we need to make sure that we're at our best.
