Wolf Hall: West Country sites feature as Tudor series returns
Wolf Hall is back for a second series on BBC Two and, once again, the West Country is set to take centre stage.
The historical drama, which tells the story of Thomas Cromwell's rise to power in the court of Henry VIII, was a huge hit when it first aired in 2015. And now, it's back for a second series, which will see Cromwell continue to navigate the treacherous waters of Tudor politics.
As in the first series, several West Country locations will be used to recreate the world of Tudor England. These include:
- Lacock Abbey in Wiltshire, which will be used to represent Wolf Hall, Cromwell's country home.
- Bristol Cathedral, which will be used to represent Westminster Abbey.
- Glastonbury Abbey in Somerset, which will be used to represent Glastonbury Tor.
The use of these locations is sure to add to the authenticity of the series. And, for those who are interested in history, it's a great opportunity to see some of the places that played a key role in the Tudor period.
The second series of Wolf Hall will air on BBC Two in early 2019.
The series will consist of six episodes, each of which will be an hour long. The first episode will air on Monday, January 7th, 2019.
The series is based on the novels of Hilary Mantel, and has been adapted for television by Peter Kosminsky.
The cast of the second series includes Mark Rylance, Damian Lewis, Claire Foy, and Vanessa Kirby.
The second series of Wolf Hall is sure to be a must-see for fans of historical dramas.
